50 Years of Colour, a Day of Golf and the Spirit of Limuru

50-Years-of-Colour

If 50 years of colour is worth celebrating, then surely it deserves a little golf, good food and plenty of Limuru hospitality!

On Friday, 11th September, Basco Paints brought the Duracoat Masters Series 2026 to our Little Augusta as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, giving their clients a day that was about much more than just golf.

The day began with registration, where players received a gift bag packed with goodies for the course, including a golf polo shirt, golf cap, golf balls, towel and pitch marker. Then it was time to get down to business.

Well… sort of.

Because midway through the round, players were treated to chicken, tomato and cheese sandwiches, followed later by proper Kenyan favourites on the course: nyama choma, mahindi choma and roasted cassava.

Golf and nyama choma? Now that’s a combination we can get behind!

As the sun went down, the day moved seamlessly from golf to good times, with a cocktail menu, finger foods and an open bar from 6:00pm to 7:30pm before prize giving got underway.

And the numbers were impressive. 249 cards were processed, with only 11 golfers making the cut.

Our very own Rosemary Wainaina flew the LCC flag high, taking the Ladies Overall prize with 25 points, while Watson Burugu claimed the Overall Gross title.

The 11 qualifiers are Phillip Etyang, Edward Kabecha, Lameck Ogode, Tarvinder Sembhi, Rishi Khubchandani, Kevin Kivuvani, Daniel Tanui, Martin Wanyiri, Nicholas Gathuru, Bulisa Masiga and Rukungu Karanja.

And now, they’re heading to Mt. Kipipiri Golf Resort on 28th November to settle the score!

The only thing missing from the day? Someone driving away with the Jetour waiting for a hole-in-one on Hole No. 7. Sadly, the car stayed right where it was. Maybe next time!

But perhaps the biggest highlight was hearing Basco Paints Managing Director, Mr. Kamlesh Shah, speak about the hospitality and warmth he experienced at LCC. As he walked through the Pavilion, his friends noticed he had a little extra bounce in his step.

“That is the spirit of Limuru.”

And really, what better way to describe it?

Here’s to 50 years of Basco Paints, 50 years of colour, and a day filled with the spirit of Limuru.

Until the finals… may the best golfer win!
